Harlem Jazz Clubs Add Crypto Cover Charges

Bitcoin blues

According to reports, Harlem jazz clubs are experimenting with cryptocurrency cover charges, requiring entry fees in Bitcoin or Ethereum. Patrons complain that by the time their transactions go through, the band has already finished the first set.

Musicians shrug, saying they’re used to being paid in “exposure” anyway. Bartenders, however, are furious—no one tips in Dogecoin without making a joke about it.

TikTok’s #CryptoJazz trend shows videos of saxophonists shouting wallet addresses mid-solo. A viral video captured a couple breaking up because one partner tried to pay the bar tab with NFTs.

Tabloids riffed. “BITCOIN BLUES” screamed the Post. The Daily News countered: “JAZZCHAIN JAM.”

Mayor Adams praised it as “financial improvisation.” Governor Hochul muttered, “Can I just pay with a $20 bill like a normal person?”
