A Department of Labor audit of Harlem Harvest’s payroll records, completed the previous month as part of a routine industry review, found the restaurant’s base hourly wages for kitchen staff at $17.50 per hour, approximately 12% below the $19.86 per hour independently calculated NYC living wage for a single adult. Restaurant owner Marcus Thompson confirmed the Living Wage Commitment Surcharge “represents our ongoing investment in the journey toward full living wage implementation” and that the restaurant is “actively working toward compliance.” The surcharge is collected.
