NYC Parks Replace Benches with Hammocks

Swing state

According to reports, NYC Parks has begun replacing benches with hammocks, declaring hard wood “too emotionally rigid.” Now, New Yorkers can swing gently while yelling into their phones or eating halal platters sideways.

One local said, “It’s relaxing, except when pigeons land on you mid-swing.” Tourists have already clogged Washington Square Park, confusing hammocks for free Airbnb pods.

TikTok’s #HammockNYC trend shows office workers napping in ties. A viral video showed a man falling out mid-hotdog, splattering mustard across three strangers.

Tabloids rocked. “CITY IN SWINGS” screamed the Post. The Daily News countered: “BENCH WARMERS OUT.”

Mayor Adams praised it as “progressive seating.” Governor Hochul muttered, “Wake me when they add cupholders.”
