NYC Hot Dog Carts Add Michelin Star Menus
Gourmet pushcarts
According to reports, New York hot dog vendors are stepping up their game with Michelin-starred menus. Forget ketchup and mustardtodays carts serve foie gras dogs, truffle mustard, and saffron sauerkraut. One vendor bragged: “We call it haute dog.”
Locals are skeptical. “I just want a $3 dirty water dog,” complained a construction worker. “Not a $45 wagyu frank with gold leaf.” But tourists are eating it up, literally. Lines now stretch around blocks as influencers snap photos of caviar-topped buns. “Its cheaper than Per Se,” said one Instagrammer, “and the pigeons add ambiance.”
Critics argue that the new menus defeat the purpose of street food. “If I need a sommelier to explain my relish, something has gone wrong,” said one diner. Yet Michelin inspectors confirmed that yes, at least two carts may soon earn stars. “The pairing of champagne and onions was sublime,” said one inspector through tears.
TikToks #HauteDog trend features influencers toasting with sparkling water next to steam carts. A viral clip showed a tourist crying as a pigeon stole a $60 lobster roll dog mid-bite.
Tabloids grilled it. “FRANKLY FABULOUS” screamed the Post. The Daily News countered: “BUNBELIEVABLE.”
Mayor Adams praised it as “culinary growth.” Governor Hochul muttered, “If my hot dog costs more than rent, Im banning mustard.”
