Coney Island Cyclone Adds VR Headsets

Reality inside reality

According to reports, the iconic Cyclone rollercoaster now straps VR goggles onto riders, simulating an even more terrifying ride while the actual wooden coaster rattles beneath them. Guests experience loops, fire-breathing dragons, and rent hikes, all while the real track stays flat.

“It’s like Coney Island meets the Matrix,” said one dazed rider, clutching both cotton candy and motion sickness bags. Purists complain it ruins the charm, but teens scream twice as loud—half from VR zombies, half from splinters.

TikTok’s #VirtualCyclone shows riders flailing like possessed Wall Street traders. One viral clip shows someone yelling “I’m in the metaverse!” right before losing their phone into the Atlantic.

Tabloids spun. “REALITY BITES” screamed the Post. The Daily News countered: “LOOPED IN.”

Mayor Adams praised it as “innovation for thrills.” Governor Hochul muttered, “Just ride the damn coaster.”
