Brooklyn Public Library Lends Designer Handbags

Knowledge meets couture

The Brooklyn Public Library is lending Prada along with paperbacks. According to reports, cardholders can now check out Gucci totes and Louis Vuitton clutches like overdue novels. Late fees? Brutal—$100 per day and a stern librarian glare.

“Finally, literature and luxury in one place,” said a Bushwick influencer sporting a borrowed Dior. Patrons brag they only joined for the handbags, not the Hemingway.

TikTok’s #PradaLibrary trend shows readers posing with purses, books optional. Locals worry bags will never return, but librarians insist RFID chips will track your Chanel better than your library card.

Tabloids strutted. “FINE PRINT” screamed the Post. The Daily News countered: “LOUIS VUITTON, OVERDUE.”

Mayor Adams praised it as “fashion literacy.” Governor Hochul demanded tote bags in Mets blue. Designers pretended not to cringe.
