Times Square Renamed TikTok Square

City sells naming rights

It’s official: Times Square is now TikTok Square. According to reports, the city sold naming rights to the app, sparking outrage among Broadway traditionalists and delight among influencers filming dances in traffic.

Mayor Adams defended the deal, noting the money will fund “important infrastructure, like bigger ring lights.” A new digital billboard now endlessly loops Charli D’Amelio teaching the NYPD to dance, while costumed Elmos are replaced with ring-light-wielding teens demanding followers.

Locals groaned. “First Amazon got Long Island City, now TikTok gets Times Square. What’s next, Staten Island presented by DoorDash?” asked one fed-up commuter. Tourists, meanwhile, happily shouted “It’s giving New York!” while doing the Dougie in front of Olive Garden.

Tabloids danced in. “BIG APPLE GOES VIRAL” screamed the Post. The Daily News countered: “TIMES UP, TIMES SQUARE.” TikTok users launched #TikTokSquare, clogging the streets with dance crews, lip-sync duets, and one guy live-streaming his entire failed date at Bubba Gump Shrimp.

Critics warn this cheapens the city’s culture. Supporters argue New York was already a giant ad, and at least now the ads have filters. For now, TikTok Square is trending worldwide—proof that New York will sell its soul, as long as it comes with Wi-Fi.
