NYC Taxi Drivers Unionize Against GPS

Demand right to be lost

Take the long way home—literally. According to reports, New York City taxi drivers have unionized against GPS, demanding the right to navigate “by vibes” instead of satellites.

“I didn’t spend 30 years perfecting the art of confusing tourists just to be replaced by Google Maps,” said one cabbie honking at nothing in particular. The union insists that GPS ruins the city’s heritage of wrong turns, scenic detours, and $45 “shortcuts” through New Jersey.

Passengers are divided. “I want efficiency, not a philosophical tour of Midtown,” complained one rider. But some locals support the rebellion. “Getting lost is part of the New York experience,” shrugged a Bronx resident.

Tabloids took a ride. “LOST BUT PROUD” screamed the Post. The Daily News countered: “MAPS ARE FOR QUITTERS.” TikTok users trended #LostCab, recording chaotic cab rides narrated with life advice like, “Never trust 8th Avenue on a Tuesday.”

Mayor Adams sympathized, saying “GPS is gentrifying cab culture.” Governor Hochul threatened to intervene but admitted she, too, still gets lost in Queens.

For now, taxi drivers keep circling the block—on strike but exactly where they want to be: nowhere specific.
