Brooklyn Bridge Now Toll for Selfies
Charge applies per duck face
It was only a matter of time. According to reports, New York City has introduced a selfie toll on the Brooklyn Bridge, charging tourists $10 per duck face or “artsy candid.”
“The bridge is a landmark, not a free influencer backdrop,” explained a DOT official while confiscating a selfie stick. The toll applies to anyone who blocks pedestrian traffic for more than three seconds while pouting, jumping, or pretending to propose with skyline in view.
Tourists are livid. “I already paid $300 for brunch in DUMBO,” cried a visitor from California. Locals, however, support the fee. “Anything that keeps foot traffic moving is worth it,” muttered a Brooklynite weaving past a TikToker lying on the pavement for the “perfect angle.”
Tabloids captured the moment. “SELFIEISH BEHAVIOR” shrieked the Post. The Daily News countered: “TOLL TALES.” TikTokers are split: some boycott the bridge, while others brag about paying the toll as proof of “authenticity.” #SelfieToll trended, with users dramatically Venmoing $10 while pouting at the camera.
Mayor Adams defended the policy, saying it will generate millions in revenue for “pothole repair and influencer rehab programs.” Governor Hochul warned that if the fee isnt enforced, “every bridge in the state will be overrun with ring lights.”
For now, the Brooklyn Bridge remains clogged, but at least the city profits from every duck face.
